FIRM PROFILE

The firm was established on March 2, 1915 by Manuel de Jesús Troncoso de la Concha under the name of OFICINA TRONCOSO. Since then it has become one of the leading commercial and civil law firms, including banking, insurance, communications, mining, tourism, free zones, taxes and foreign investments in the Dominican Republic. Also, the firm comprises the largest and oldest Intellectual Property department in the country, since 1917, and it presently keeps a successful leadership in that area, having formed strong relationships with many other major Intellectual Property agencies throughout the world. In 1983, it changed its name to TRONCOSO Y CACERES.

MANUEL DE JESUS TRONCOSO DE LA CONCHA (Founder of the Firm).
Born Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on April 3, 1878. Legal education: Professional Institute (1898). Author: Elementos de Derecho Administrativo, Narraciones Dominicanas, La Ocupación de Santo Domingo por Haití; El Brigadier Juan Sánchez Ramírez; Génesis de la Convención Dominico-Americana; Chief Editor Listin Diario (1899-1911). Positions between 1894 – 1938: Judge: First Instance, Court of Appeal, Land Court (President), Supreme Court; Minister of:  Justice, Public Instruction, Industry and Commerce, Communications, Interior, Attorney General; Santo Domingo Mayor; President of The National Electoral Board; Counselor for the International Court (Le Hague); Professor and Dean of the Law School and Principal of the University of Santo Domingo; Vice-President of the Republic (1938-1940), Doctor Honoris Causa University of Santo Domingo (1944); President of the Republic (1940-1942), President of the Senate (1942-1954).

JESUS MARIA TRONCOSO
Born Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, May 18, 1902; Admitted to bar 1924 Dominican Republic. Legal education: University of Santo Domingo (L.L.M., 1924). Author: Política Económica de la República Dominicana (1956). Professor of Law, University of Santo Domingo (1937-1962). Dominican Ambassador to the U.S. (1941-1943), Secretary of Treasury (1943-1946). Member,  Board of Governors, Central Bank (1946-1951). Delegate to Trade and Tariff (1949-1951) and Sugar (1953),  Conferences. Legal Advisor, Dominican Sugar Institute (1964).

MARINO E. CACERES
Born in El Cristo, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, July 6, 1903.
Admitted to bar 1927, Dominican Republic. Legal education, University of Santo Domingo (LL.M.1927), Judge (1932-1938) and President (1948), Land Court. Secretary of Agriculture (1941-1942 and 1946-1948).

PEDRO TRONCOSO SANCHEZ
Born Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 1904; Admitted to bar 1927. 
Legal education, University of Santo Domingo (L.L.M., 1927). Author: Bosquejos Filosóficos (1932), La Misión del Juez (1948), Posiciones de Principio en la Historia Política Dominicana (1967).
Professor: University of Santo Domingo (1939), National University (1967). Mayor of the City of Santo Doming (1939-1941). Ambassador to Argentina (1941-1944), Mexico (1944), Holy See (1949-1953), Italy (1956-1958). President of the Supreme Court of Justice (1946-1949). President of the University of Santo Domingo (1952-1956), Minister of Education (1952). President and Member of the Dominican History Academy (1954-1989). Founder and President of the Instituto Duartiano (1968-1983), Member of the Spanish Royal Academy of the Language. WENCESLAO TRONCOSO (Retired),
Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, November 26, 1907. Admitted to bar 1929, Dominican Republic.  Legal education, University of
